Tasmanian salmon producer Tassal is a good example here using IoT technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs in the business. Fitting their salmon holding pens with smart cameras above and below the water to get accurate information on the water’s oxygen levels, temperature and current, this then suggests the optimum feed time for the salmon and releases food accordingly. With feed being the single biggest cost of their business, a reduction of one kilo of food every day saves the business AU$25,000 per year, according to an article in Zdnet.
Don’t Forget The BI Basics
